What is LED Lighting?
LED lighting is an electric light that uses light-emitting diodes to produce illumination. Light-emitting diodes are semiconducting light sources that produce light when currents flow through them. There are many benefits to using this kind of light source and it is becoming a more and more popular choice in commercial buildings and residential homes.
Energy Efficient
One of the most appealing advantages of LED lighting is how incredibly energy efficient they are. They use around 50 percent less energy than other light sources such as fluorescent or halogen bulbs. They are a wonderful way for businesses to cut back on energy costs and make room in their budget.
Long Life
LED lights also have an exceptionally long life span. They don’t ever “burn out”, they only dim over time and can last for up to 50,000 hours. That’s multiple thousands higher than other light sources. This means that you don’t have to replace them very often and can save even more money.
High Intensity Illumination
LEDs also offer more high intensity illumination than other bulbs. They give off a much brighter light, because the lumens count is so much higher. This means you can illuminate larger spaces with less bulbs and actually be able to see well in any room.
No Warm Up Time
Most other light sources require a little bit of warm up time after you turn them on to reach their full brightness. This is not the case with LEDs. You get that high intensity illumination almost instantly.
Compatible with Cold
LED lights are compatible with cold settings. The amount of illumination they give will not change in lower temperatures and they do not require more power to function in the cold. This means they can be used in places such as walk in refrigerators or outside for a porch light. They also make great Christmas light options.
They Do It All
There really isn’t much the LED lights don’t excel at all. They basically do it all. They have the upper hand in so many categories that they have become an obvious choice for most lighting purposes. If you want to save money without giving up good lighting, LED bulbs are the way to go.
